Grant Received for Bird Research

Aton Forest has received a $1,500 grant from Audubon Connecticut to assist in the reestablishment of three interior breeding bird survey lines.  Originally there were five 2km survey lines (50 points in all) throughout the property - two along the road and three transecting various parts of the forest.  Over time the three interior lines were made inaccessible due to blow down and regrowth.  With this grant Aton Forest will re-open these lines so that all five may be utilized.  Data collected from breeding bird surveys as well as winter bird counts will be made available via Aton Forest's eBird account.

We are very appreciative of Audubon's help with this critical part of bird research at the forest.
